April 17: Jesus’ Heart

Read John 20:1-18; Isaiah 43:1-13

Jesus was dead, but now, He is alive!

His resurrection is personal for each one of us who have been brought to life by it. For Mary, grief turned to astonished joy when He called her by name.

He calls each of us by name because He invites us to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength.

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine…Because you are precious in My eyes, and honored, and I love you, I give men in return for you, people in exchange for your life.”

He didn’t give just any man. He gave Himself, the Son of Man, because He was the only all-sufficient sacrifice.

Just as as egg forms new life, seeming to bring something out of nothing, Jesus’ heart is to bring the dead (that’s us) to life so that we can love Him with all we have.

Happy Easter! Thanks for reading along.
